Indie Grit, Fuzzy Guitars, and a Whole Lot of Heart
Born and raised in Bryan, Texas, and currently carving out a lane in the Austin indie scene, Mr. Kat is an artist whose sound lives at the intersection of bedroom pop, garage grit, and honest emotional storytelling. What began as a solo project has grown into a full band with a voice that’s impossible to ignore—fuzzy guitars, melancholy lyricism, and a vibrant alternative spirit that resonates deeply with fans who crave something real.
Drawing influence from artists like Indigo De Souza, Soccer Mommy, Susannah Joffe, and Faye Webster, Mr. Kat channels the raw, tender, and sometimes gritty realities of young adulthood into songs that feel both intimate and explosive. Their music speaks directly to the grungy youth who see themselves reflected in the cracks—inviting listeners to embrace their individuality and find escape in the melodic chaos.
A Fast Rise in the Local Scene
Though the project officially formed in 2022, Mr. Kat wasted no time building momentum. After just two shows that year, they hit the ground running with 40 performances in 2023, quickly becoming one of the most active and compelling indie acts emerging from the Brazos Valley and Austin.
After Kat graduated from Texas A&M in 2020 and moved to Austin, songwriting became the next evolution of that lifelong passion. What started with writing lyrics to Bo Burnham’s “Funny Feeling” turned into a blossoming catalog of original music and a widening community of fans.
Influences, Achievements & Industry Impact
Mr. Kat has already built an impressive resume:
Radio Play:
First radio feature in 2023 on KANM at Texas A&M
“SAW III” aired on Austin’s KUTX in August 2024
SXSW Performer: Played at the festival for two consecutive years.
Community & Industry Leadership:

Founder of the inaugural Bryan Music Awards, debuting December 13
Will establish a new record label in Austin for ACC’s Music Business, Production & Technology program in 2026

It’s a rare combination: an artist equally dedicated to performing and uplifting others within the music ecosystem.
Songs From the Heart
Kat's favorite (and soon-to-be-released) song is “Seinfeld,” currently being recorded and produced under the mentorship of a producer who worked on Michael Jackson’s Thriller. It represents a major milestone—Mr. Kat’s first entirely self-produced track—set to drop in December 2025.
Another fan favorite is “Sandbox Love,” released in March 2024. Written as a nostalgic journey through childhood, adolescence, and adulthood, the song is about deep friendship and the people who shape us along the way. At every show, Mr. Kat dedicates it to the crowd—“his friends.”
Live Shows That Hit Every Layer of Emotion
A Mr. Kat performance is a full-spectrum experience. One minute you're wrapped in a gentle love ballad, and the next you're in the middle of a fuzzy, fast-paced, scream-laced indie anthem. Expect singing. Expect dancing. Expect thrashing and crowd surfing. And expect moments of quiet reflection, where he invites the audience to sit with whatever they’re feeling.
It’s an immersive ride—and an unforgettable one.
What Fans May Not Know
Behind the confidence, the fuzz pedals, and the rising recognition, Kat once believed music wasn’t a “real job.” That changed with hard work, persistence, and a return to school to study Music Business and Audio Engineering. Now, he’s proof that the industry is accessible—if you’re willing to chase it.
His dream stage? ACL, big or small. Dream collabs? The Strokes or Interpol.
A Creative Powerhouse Returning to His Roots
Though Austin is home to Mr. Kat’s buzzing creative world, Bryan will always be his foundation. As a Texas A&M graduate and lifelong Bryan resident, Kat is passionate about building bridges between local artists and the wider music industry. From booking shows to creative direction to management, he’s committed to growing a sustainable, thriving arts community in the Brazos Valley and beyond.
And with more music, more shows, and more innovation on the way, it’s clear that Mr. Kat is just getting started.
